Yvonne Gordon takes a Rabbies tour to the Isle of Skye in Scotland. "Half an hour out of the city and we’re already driving through Loch Lomond And The Trossachs National Park. The motorway has given way to a lake-side road lined with trees. The bluebells are out and new season bracken ferns are just starting to unfurl. Road signs warn of deer on the road."

Overview of Lochs and Islands Cruise

Day 1
Meet your Tour Manager at your hotel in Edinburgh, the delightful Scottish capital. After check in, you are free to explore this UNESCO World Heritage city. Perhaps visit the imposing Edinburgh Castle, which looms over the city from its lookout atop the extinct volcano over castle rock. Alternatively, why not climb up Arthur's Seat, for a panoramic view of this spectacular city.

Day 2
The second day commences with a journey to Oban through Glasgow, on the west coast. At this little fishing village, we will board the MV Lord of the Glens with a welcome reception and dinner. After breakfast on board we will take a walking tour with a trip to a Whisky Distillery and McCaig's Tower. Leaving the town you will see beautiful scenic views of the coast, gorgeous hills rising from the water, and a rugged coastline, with colourful moorland.

Day 3
We will arrive at Craignure on the Isle of Mull to stop off at Duart Castle, and cross over to the capital of the island, Tobermory. The morning of day four is free for you to explore this fishing port, with little colourful houses on the waterfront. This afternoon we travel back to mainland, along the Sound of Mull and Loche Linnhe to Corpach, the entrance of the famous Caledonian Canal. Hop on the West Highland Line for breathtaking views of this beautiful highland region to Glenfinnan and back to Corpach.

Day 4
After time to explore the town of Tobermory we sail back to the mainland to Corpach. Here, we board the West Highland Line to Glenfinnan, passing over the 21 arches of the incredible Glenfinnan Viaduct, a true marvel of engineering, and travelling through glorious Highland scenery.

Day 5-6
Day five is an exciting part of the holiday as you ascend through Neptune's Staircase, a set of spectacular eight locks. We will continue through Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and Laggan Avenue canal. The boat then descends down several more locks into Loch Ness. Here we moor at Fort Augustus with time for you to look around the village. The next morning we sail across the beautiful Loch Ness, of course you must look for the famous mystical monster. Spot the eerie ruins of Urquhart Castle on the banks of the Loch, travel past Loch Dochfour and to Inverness.

Day 7
Disembarking the Lord of the Glens, we travel to Edinburgh, passing through rolling countryside and verdant forests before arriving for a final afternoon at leisure in the Scottish capital.
