Details of Jungfrau by Train

Day 1 - Strasbourg Travel from London to Paris by Eurostar, before transferring onto the TGV to Strasbourg, where you'll stay at the historic Mercure Strasbourg Quartier Saint Jean with 61 modern bedrooms and a pleasant bar area to relax in. Located in the pretty Petite France district, it's close to the main train station.

Day 2 - Strasbourg to Interlaken After breakfast, take the train via Basel to Interlaken, where you'll be staying at the Hotel du Nord, a traditional 46-bed hotel, for 3 nights. Home to the oldest wine cellar in Interlaken, it also has a bar and restaurant and is within walking distance of the city's central sights and train station.

Day 3 - Jungfrau Excursion Profit from the natural beauty of the Interlaken area – take the famous mountain railway to the Jungfrau mountain and travel to Europe's highest point accessible by train (3454 metres). This unique trip which takes you to Kleine Scheidegg en route to Jungfraujoch, with its breathtaking views of Switzerland, the French Vosges Mountains and the Black Forest in Germany. You can also visit the Great Aletsch Glacier, the Alps' longest ice stream, which begins on the Jungfrau Mountain.

Day 4 - Interlaken Spend the day exploring: you could take a boat trip on Lake Thun or Lake Brienz, or (in summer) take the Mount Harder funicular for vistas of the Alpine peaks, including Jungfrau, Monch, and Eiger.

Day 5 - Interlaken to London Take the train to Basel and TGV on to Paris, where you change onto Eurostar to the UK. Holidays can be tailor-made for you to include different hotels, lengths of stay, departure dates and additional cities.
