An Introduction to Via Ferrata, Italy
Follow traditional Via Ferrata walking routes during this 8-day holiday that'll lead you through this beautiful northeastern corner of the Dolomites massif, an area well-known for its natural beauty.
This is the perfect introductory trip for experienced walkers looking for a new mountain challenge. The Sexten Dolomites are an extensive collection of rugged mountain peaks occupying the northeastern corner of the Dolomites massif, an area which also boasts such 'jewels' as the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. Widely considered to be one of the best parts of this vast mountain range, it offers stunning landscapes together with an extensive variety of routes.
You'll follow traditional Via Ferrata routes through tunnels and over high-level bridges, as well as encountering the extensive fortifications that still exist throughout the area - many of these are in the process of being restored as open air museums. Also extremely popular with rock climbers, your UIAGM qualified guides will safely lead you across protected Via Ferrata scrambles such as Toblinger Knoten and Cristallo. On top of fantastic walking opportunities, you'll also enjoy traditional Tyrolean hospitality at a friendly, family-run hotel.
During your free day you could try an extra walk through the mountains highly recommended by locals, or perhaps take the time to visit Bolzano to see the remains of the famous Oetzi ice man. Alternatively you might just like to spend your time relaxing by the pool of your hotel, and who could blame you?
