The Lake District (otherwise known as 'The Lakes' or 'Lakeland') is perhaps England's top walking region, with acres of mountainous terrain in all directions, something you may well expect from the largest National Park in England. Starting and finishing in the picturesque Lake District town of Ambleside, this week-long circular walking holiday will have you traversing some of the most dramatic landscapes the UK has to offer, from the many mountain-scapes and magnificent lakes, to the peaceful Borrowdale and Newlands Valleys and quaint villages such as Coniston and Braithwaite. You'll be able to enjoy some fantastic views out over Loweswater and Crummock Water, as well as the dramatic Harter Fell, as you pass up along the high mountains.

Based on 'Inn Way...to the English Lake District', a guidebook written by Mark Reid, the trip will also see you bed down in comfortable and traditional Country Inn accommodations, where you can fill up on a hearty breakfast before venturing out for a full day of walking. It may be easy enough to follow the footpaths and bridleways of the easier sections of this walk, but you'll soon venture up into the mountains where way-marking is almost non-existant, so it may be wise to bring a map and compass with you!
