Wolves are mysterious and magical creatures that most of us just know from books and movies. On this thrilling tour in the centre of Sweden you can find out more about these extraordinary animals by talking to local experts and howling with them in the dark of the night.
Howling with wolves is a wonderful experience for those who have always been fascinated by the myths and legends about these elusive animals. You will get the chance to talk to leading wolf researchers and look for traces of these terrific animals. Standard 2-day tours are available from the middle of July to the beginning of October. Other dates can be arranged for groups of minimum 4 people.
Before you head out to one of the country's most active wolf territories, you will pay a visit to the wildlife research centre where experts will tell you more about this fascinating predator, its current conservation status and excite you with tales of first-hand encounters in the local area. Afterwards experienced guides will take you out in the wolf territory and you will set up camp close to where the wolves have been last tracked.
On this experience participants will sleep in a Sami "lavvu" (tipi) in the middle of the wolf territory. These comfortably equipped tents can accommodate up to 8 people. Dinner will be prepared together over an open fire that will warm you before you prepare yourself for a long night in the forest.
During the night you will get to hear and howl along with a wolf pack and feel their presence in the surrounding wilderness. In the morning you will head out to search for tracks and explore the wildlife in the surrounding fields and meadows. The experience ends with a breakfast/brunch in a nearby guesthouse where you can refresh and reflect on the night's adventure.
Please note that the minimum age for standard tours is 12 years. For private groups, please contact us to discuss the suitability of the tour for younger children.
