Details of Horse Riding Holidays in West of Ireland
For more than 20 years, Slieve Aughty Centre has been catering for beginner to advanced riders of all ages. Family owned and operated, the centre began in 1986 and has been creating precious memories since. Located just 11 km outside the town of Loughrea, the centre is remote and peaceful. The centre encompasses 35 acres of rolling land, 25 of which is used by our diverse and fun cross country course, and we are adjacent to more than 2,000 acres of forest and river trails in Kylebrack Wood and the surrounding countryside. Only 50 km from Galway City, there are lots of options for sightseeing around's Ireland's West.
A riding holiday at Slieve Aughty Centre has something for everyone. For the kids, a children's riding holiday provides plenty of riding combined with supervised games, stable management and more. Children's riding holidays are also available for ages 12 and up without an adult. Adult and family riding holidays and trail holidays focus on exploring the beautiful lands around the centre, while training and cross country training holidays provide an opportunity to improve one's riding with intense daily instruction. In the quiet months of fall and winter, come for a working or hunting holiday.
Have a few people in your family who don't ride? There are many opportunities for hiking, cycling, fishing, golfing, sightseeing and more. Improve your English while on holiday! We are proud to be one of the only equestrian centres in Ireland offering English language instruction from a qualified English language school. Slieve Aughty Centre has a long standing partnership with the Shannonside Language Centre, and English lessons are taught on the property daily, scheduled around your riding of course!
We are an eco-friendly equestrian centre and believe it is our responsibility to minimise our impact on the earth. Biodegradable cleaning products, natural field management, organic food, and energy efficient practices and appliances are just some of our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint. Most of all, Slieve Aughty Centre is a wonderful place to relax and rejuvenate. We invite you to experience the Slieve Aughty difference on your next holiday.

"We cycled, we walked, we ate and, of course, we rode. There is a very natural approach to riding here, with bitless bridles, an ethos of talking to the horses, not pushing them, and same with the visitors."
