Details of Walking the Path of the Pilgrims Holiday

The lakes and forests of Dalsland in southern Sweden are ideal hiking country. Walking the Path of the Pilgrims combines the adventure and challenging of a self-guided walking tour with a stay at a comfortable and welcoming guest house at the end of the trail. Along the trail accommodation is wild camping each night. There are wind-shelters spaced at intervals along the route where you can also choose to overnight if you wish.

The Pilgrim's Trail is an historic route winding 55km through the forest. You can choose to take 3 or 4 days to hike the route depending on your preference. At the end of the trail you will reach your accommodation where you spend two or more nights relaxing and exploring the area on foot or by canoe. You can even choose a spa treatment at nearby spa centre, or of course extend your stay for additional activities.

When it is time to depart, you can travel either by bus to the small town of Åmål to catch the train or to hike there through the woods, adding an additional 20km or so to your walking tour.
