Overview of Self-guided Hiking Holiday in Bohuslan
The Kynne Hills in southern Sweden are a lovely area for hiking, offering something of the same atmosphere of the vast wilderness areas in the far north. From your base at a simple camping cabin, you will head out each day to discover some of the secret pathways of the area. Some trails and owned and maintained by your host and available only for guests at the camp, so you are very likely to have the forest and lakes to yourself!
Depending on the route you have chosen for the day, your local host will transfer you to the start point and/or pick you up at the end point for return transfer to the camp. Distances are around 20km per day over undulating terrain, though shorter variations are also possible.
This experience is suitable for anyone in general good health who enjoys walking - you need only carry a light daypack. Children who are comfortable with hiking the distances are also very welcome. You will be given a map and detailed description of the walk by your host, including information on points of interest along the way.
The area is rich in wildlife, and there is a large beaver dam to visit. You may also see moose and birds of prey during your walk, as well as perhaps tracks and scat left by lynx and wolf which inhabit the deep forests (though there is no need to be concerned when walking - these animals are extremely shy!).
At the camp there is a kitchen for self-catering (food package is available as an optional extra) and also a lovely wood-fired sauna next to a small lake - ideal for soothing your muscles at the end of the day followed by an evening dip!
