Interesting fact: Latitude claims to be "more than just a musical festival," and more than lives up to its name with a Comedy Arena (headliners include Emo Philips and Ardal O'Hanlon); a Literary Arena playing host to the likes of Sebastian Faulks and Bret Easton Ellis; Cabaret; Poetry; Film and performances from the likes of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Sadler's Wells and the Royal Opera House.
HOW GREEN IS LATITUDE?
- Amongst various incentives to encourage re-use and recycling, Latitude runs a Pint Cup Deposit system, whereby you pay a £2 deposit for a quality pint glass, and you are reimbursed upon its return. They also provide plenty of recycling, compost and waste bins across the site
- In partnership with Bright Green (a not-for-profit who raise environmental awareness at the festival), Latitude provides 'Camper's Waste Kits' to make recycling easy and prevent littering
- Latitude's organisers work in conjunction with Julie's Bicycle to help minimise carbon emissions within creative industries. They monitor and calculate the festival's emissions and work on strategies to reduce them. More information
HOW TO GET THERE
Nearest train station: Halesworth or Ipswich
By train: Halesworth is the closest station to the festival site, and Latitude runs shuttle buses to and from the station to the site. However, services and capacity on services to Halesworth are limited, so it is often best to travel to Ipswich at peak times - Latitude also runs shuttle buses from here to the festival site. Book your train ticket to Halesworth or Ipswich
By bus: National Express (here) runs a dedicated coach service from London Victoria, where you can connect for bus and coach services to the whole of the UK. Book here
Carsharing: If you're looking to hitch a ride or have some lonely seats to fill, consider Liftshare to Latitude. Latitude runs a competition in conjunction with Liftshare, offering the chance to upgrade to VIP camping.
