The French Alps is much more than the many ski resorts it is renowned for. The region is full of excellent holiday options throughout the whole year whether your into outdoor activities, exploring quaint mountain towns or want to go on a holiday with a special interest, like yoga or culinary tours. The Chamonix Valley provides walking opportunities below the magnificent Mont Blanc and cable cars to assist you if you'd rather not hike for the panoramic views. Ecrins National Park is a popular destination for walking, mountain biking and other outdoor activities.

However, if you'd rather test yourself there are High Level Walking routes, like those between Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn, for an experience you're not likely to forget.
