Holidays in Chamonix, France

Sitting below the awe-inspiring Mont Blanc, the Chamonix Valley in the French Alps is home to some of Europe's finest mountain views. In winter the region is a skiers paradise with plenty of alternative winter activities thrown into the mix. A specialised off-piste skiing course will help you make the transition from ski slopes to the exciting snowy backcountry.  Cross-country skiing tracks in the area are plentiful, including those that allow you to ski into Italy. Snowshoeing and ski touring are also on offer and good options if you want to escape the crowds of the ski resorts.

In summer the region remains full of holiday options. There are a huge number of trekking routes in the area, some of which take in Le Tour Glacier, which looks most spectacular when sat next to a deep blue summer sky. The Classic Tour of Mont Blanc is a high level trek traversing the Italian, French and Swiss borders. If you don't have time to do the whole thing, then sections can be done on foot or, if you're after a bit more adrenaline, mountain bike.
