Holidays in Alsace, France

Alsace in France offers a unique blend of both French and Bavarian cultures. Strasbourg, the largest city in the region, is home to some fascinating gothic architecture and a very pretty old town, whose cobbled streets weave in a warren like manner on an island in the middle of the river. The city is an interesting place to visit throughout the year but at Christmas it really comes alive. The Strasbourg Christmas Market is one of the most established in France, learning tricks of the trade from its German neighbours. Market stalls shimmer with Christmas lights under an enormous Christmas tree and the city's dramatic, gothic Cathedral.

Alsace is also well known for its wine and regional specialties; vineyard and gourmet tours are very popular. The largely flat landscape, dotted with picture-postcard villages makes this region perfect for a cycling or walking tour between vineyards. The region is also home to a large proportion of the Black Forest as well as the Vosges mountains and their impressive stone castles. If walking or cycling is not up your street then there are some fantastic train journeys, which give you the chance to see the best views from the comfort of a train carriage. See below for more details of all our holidays in Alsace.
