Ferry from Roscoff to Plymouth

Route: Ferry from Roscoff (Brittany) to Plymouth (Southwest England)
Journey time: From 6 hours
Journey highlights:

Make a voyage across the Channel in style with Brittany Ferries - they have excellent dining and drinking options, comfy cabins and lounges and an array of entertainment from music and shopping to cinemas and swimming pools (depending on the vessel)!

Plymouth is a great seafaring city, looking firmly out to the Atlantic: the whole place has a maritime air and it has a rich trade and naval history. Today this is evident not only the fresh fish and seafood on offer in the city’s restaurants and markets, but the waterside Barbican district and the grand citadel that stands proudly over the city. The regenerated Royal William Yard offers shops and cafés in grand buildings, complementing the city centre - one of the south-west’s busiest shopping districts. With a range of independent galleries and retailers, as well as one the UK’s largest aquarium, there’s plenty to keep you entertained – and tear your eyes off the view of the wide waters of the Plymouth Sound.

In addition to the sights and flavours of the city, Plymouth acts as a gateway to the surrounding area, including the beautiful South Devon coast, with its glorious beaches and verdant scenery. Dartmoor National Park’s wide open spaces are easily accessible by bus or train, and the Eden Project, one of the UK’s leading attractions, is also within easy reach – as is much of wonderful Cornwall.

Onward travel from the port:

Welcome to Plymouth

From the ferry terminal it is about 20 minutes walk to Plymouth railway station, or 5 minutes in a taxi. Plymouth station is well connected to major centres in the UK, including London Paddington, by regular rail services. The centre of Plymouth is compact and walkable, and for longer journeys around town there is a good bus network. The port is linked to the city centre by the 34 bus route, but this does not call at the railway station. The city’s bus network is called Plymouth Citybus and their website offers timetables and a downloadable Plymouth bus map.
