A fantastic opportunity for young and old(er) to be marine biologists for the week. Spend time with our founder Deborah Benham (PhD – marine biology/animal behaviour) who has worked with the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society for the past six years and been a marine wildlife guide in Scotland, Wales and California. Explore the magnificent Isle of Mull, one of the most picturesque places in Scotland and home to white tailed eagles, golden eagles, seals, otters, dolphins, basking sharks and minke whales.

On your holiday you will :
- Go on 4 hour boat trip, searching for whales, dolphins, porpoises, sea eagles, basking sharks, seals and many species of seabird. Take a trip to a fish farm and a seal colony; discover the history and geology of the area and, with the underwater hydrophone, listen to prawns chatting on the seabed and to dolphins when they are about.
- Spend time on wonderful beaches, watch feeding wildfowl and basking seals in the tidal bays. Swim, paddle and play nature based games about marine wildlife and ecology.
- Search for otters swimming in the sea lochs and watch eagles on their nests or hunting above the Sound of Mull. Your guide will provide all the tips and equipment you need to help you become expert wildlife spotters.
- Learn about the tiny creatures that live in the rock pools and tidal areas and how important they are for the rest of the marine inhabitants.
- Go a little ‘Ray Mears’. Learn about wild foods from the sea, start a cooking fire without matches and prepare a marine themed meal together.
- Enjoy being creative with marine themed arts and crafts projects, such as making your own nature journal to fill with
memories and keep as a souvenir or creating a driftwood sculpture or mobile.
- Visit the ‘Art in Nature’ trail to explore the sculptures scattered through the forest. At the end of the short walk is a lovely café for some sweet treats.
- Explore stunning Tobermory, one of the most photographed towns in Scotland and famous as the home of children’s TV program ‘Balamory’. There’s even a chocolate factory!
- Have the chance to attend talks, slide shows and films to enhance your understanding and appreciation of the local marine environment and its inhabitants.
- Make the most of the long evenings with songs and stories around the campfire.

Accommodation is at the Glenaros Lodge Guest House in the small town of Salen, 5 miles from Tobermory.
