Holidays in Somerset, England
Somerset is best known for its pretty market towns like Wells and Shepton Mallet and the Arthurian legend surrounding the magnificent Glastonbury Tor. However, the county is also home to several Areas of Outstanding Beauty, over two thirds of Exmoor National Park as well as a variety of Wildlife Trust and RSPB nature reserves. The Levels and the Moors are home to a unique inland ecosystem perfect for bird watching. The Mendips offer over 80 miles of sweeping views whilst the Quantock Hills are home to secret wooded valleys and their fresh water brooks. Exmoor was the first place in England to receive Dark Sky Status earlier this year and is home to some of the finest stretches of coast in the South West. Head to Tarr Steps Woodland for a mini wildlife safari or Klive Beach for intriguing geological wonders.
With excellent access from throughout the UK and The Channel, Somerset is a great holiday destination for those wanting good views and fresh air with a healthy dose of exploration. For information about holidays, tours and places to stay in Somerset, see below.
