Holidays in Cumbria, England

The Lake District is one of the beautiful parts of the UK and an absolute must see. Dramatic mountains tower over brooding lakes and country lanes twist and turn through rustic villages, wild heath lands and out to wind swept beaches. The sheer scale of Cumbria means that, even though it is one of the UK’s number one tourist destinations, it is easy to lose the crowds. Home to England’s highest mountain, Scarfell pike, the region offers excellent hiking opportunities for people of all fitness levels.

At greentraveller we have a great range of unusual holidays and special places to stay in the Lake District. These include volunteering holidays like repairing dry-stone walls, preserving nature parks, restoring footpaths and managing ancient woodlands. We also have some great family activity holidays including a John Muir Award winning holiday learning the art of bush craft. And for those of you that fancy picking up a skill, we’ve got a fantastic swimming holiday – where you can learn how to wild swim like a pro in the beautiful lakes.
