Tour Itinerary
Day 1 – London to Le Bugue
We travel on the morning Eurostar from St Pancras International to Paris, where we join our train to Brive. From here we transfer by coach to Le Bugue and check into our home for the next five nights, the 3* Hotel Royal Vézère

Day 2 – La Roque-Gageac & Dordogne cruise
Today we go on a great excursion to the Gouffre de Proumeyssac. Due to an abundance of rivers and complex local geology, there are a number of caves in the Dordogne. The Gouffre de Proumeyssac is among the most extraordinary and our visit here includes seeing the cave beautifully illuminated by a Son et Lumière (sound & light) show.

Day 3 – At leisure in Le Bugue
This morning is free to explore the charming town of Le Bugue, admiring the town’s traditional houses and taking a stroll along the river. This afternoon you have the chance to join an optional excursion to the Château de Puymartin, a wonderfully preserved fairytale French castle perched on a hilltop, which played a key role during the Hundred Years’ War.

Day 4 – Le Bugue market & Sarlat
A leisurely morning gives you the opportunity to spend some time at the fantastic market in Le Bugue today. As well as the local produce on display you will find stalls selling traditional local craftwork. After time for lunch we head to Sarlat, an incredibly picturesque town in the heart of the Dordogne. The medieval Old Town, with its labyrinth of alleyways and buildings built in warm honey-coloured stone, is virtually unchanged since the Middle Ages.

Day 5 – Rocamadour & Martel
This morning we travel to the magnificent village of Rocamadour, perched high above the winding river below. Rocamadour is built into the craggy cliff-face, and has been a pilgrimage site for centuries. In the afternoon we move on to the medieval village of Martel, characterised by its seven towers standing out against the sky. After time to explore the village, we take a ride on the restored Truffadou Steam Train which offers fantastic views over the Dordogne valley as it travels through impressive scenery, passing snaking ravines and clinging to the side of rugged cliffs.

Day 6 – Le Bugue to London
We transfer by coach to Brive where we join our train to Paris and change to the Eurostar for St Pancras International.
