Understanding the art of fresco painting will help you to comprehend the genius of the Renaissance masters such as Michelangelo, Raphael and Masaccio. This interactive experience will give you an informative lesson in the history of fresco as well as a real chance to try your hand at creating a fresco using traditional materials and techniques.
The workshop takes place in the private studio of a succesful fresco artist, and starts with a brief explanatory overview of the fresco. You are then guided, step-by-step through all the stages of creation: preparing the surface, drawing and transferring a drawing (cartoon), and the final step: applying the paint. You have the chance to experience for yourself the art of fresco painting through use of the same materials and techniques that were employed by the Renaissance masters.
Our artist's way of interweaving historical knowledge with artistic practice allows you to have a unique educational and entertaining experience, suitable for people of all ages. Because using the correct materials is critical to fresco, there is a strong focus on the traditions and conditions of fresco making, and at the end, participants will be able to leave with their own fresco.
