Details of Urban Adventure in Budapest: Budapest Sights & Spas

Enjoy Hungarian spa traditions on this day tour of Budapest, as you discover the history of this beautiful capital, whilst relaxing in a soothing Budapest thermal bath. As you enter the breathtaking Gellert Thermal Baths, you'll find a stunning art nouveau building, which is known for its mosaics: here you'll learn about the waters that surround Budapest, and their healing properties - there are over 125 spring water sources in the hills around the city. Next, you'll head to a church carved into a Budapest hillside before crossing the Bridge of Liberty into Pest, and taking the tram to explore the city from a different vantage point. Admire city’s striking architecture, with wonderful buildings ranging from opulent Buda Castle to the white towers of the Fisherman’s Bastion.

Leave the tram in the city’s old Jewish district and as you wander around, you'll learn about the area's history. Travel below Budapest on the historic Metro: a world heritage site and the oldest underground railway on the European continent. You'll alight at City Park, a huge space much-loved by locals, particularly in Summer, and the perfect place to people watch. Discover one of the park’s best known landmarks, the Vajdahunyad castle, and enjoy a refreshing glass of natural spring water at the drinking parlour. After a day exploring the city sights, it’s now time to soak those tired muscles in the healing waters of the Széchenyi Thermal Bath. Let your muscles relax, and perhaps play a game of chess with a local, as you indulge in this century-old Hungarian tradition.
