Winter Wonderland on a Forest Farm, Hälsingland, Sweden

For families with children (or just the young at heart!) looking for an authentic, traditional Swedish winter holiday, Winter Wonderland on a Forest Farm is an ideal choice.

With just two rooms at the farm your hosts, Lasse and Åsa, offer a very personal and welcoming experience, ensuring that guests feel instantly at home. Åsa is an excellent farmhouse cook, and food made from locally-produced ingredients wherever possible is a real feature of a stay at the Forest Farm. Your hosts are also very happy to cater for particular dietary requirements, including the tastes of younger guests!

A stay at the farm is a relaxing, uplifting experience and a real tonic for the soul. Set in a remote location deep in the forests of Hälsningland, Winter Wonderland on a Forest Farm is a marvellous opportunity to "get away from it all" and rediscover some traditional winter pleasures, from horse and sleigh rides using the farm's horses to sledging to cross country skiing on the forest tracks. For something unusual, try your hand at ice fishing on one of the frozen lakes (under the expert direction of your host!) or borrow a "kick-sled" and try out a traditional mode of Swedish winter transport. Or just spend time playing in the snow before retiring to spend the afternoon in front of the fire!

Guests are welcome to stay for as little as one night, but to make the most of the experience we recommend a stay of at least three nights. A number of additional activities are included for guests staying multiple nights on a full board basis.

While some guests do like to have a car to give them greater flexibility during their stay, the vast majority travel by public transport to this experience and a car is certainly not necessary. You will find plenty to do in the area around the farm! Transfer can be arranged from the nearest train station or is included for guests staying multiple nights on full board.
