Greentraveller's Travel Advice: The rail network in Switzerland is world class: punctual, comfortable and efficient; it is a sleek, stylish way to travel and outstandingly user-friendly. The world-famous Glacier Express and Bernina Express trains are only the most famous of a vast family of routes that hook over, scale around and disappear through Switzerland’s spectacular mountains.

Engadine’ translates as 'garden of the Inn river' which is a good reflection of the floral diversity of this valley in the Swiss Alps. Experienced hiker Ernst Vogel is a walk guide: “There are few areas in the Swiss mountains which can match the beauty of the spring meadows in lower Engadine. My personal favourites are the anemone, gentian, and various orchids, like spotted and broad-leaved."

Walking Holiday through the villages of the Engadine
This is an area that continues to astonish visitors with the silent splendour of the ancient villages, characterised by sturdy stone-built houses with deeply-recessed windows, arched doorways and intricately painted façades. On this marvellous discovery of the lower and upper Engadine - both very different in character - you stay in the three most picturesque villages and their best hotels.
This region is made for walkers, and linking the villages are splendid paths close to the River Inn and across the upper slopes that offer different perspectives of this twisting valley. Choose walks of a grade 2 level or explore the well-waymarked paths into the high mountains for more demanding walking.

Traveller Reviews of This Trip
Our 8th trip with Inntravel and we know that we can rely on you to take care of all the travel, hotel and walk details. Therefore we can relax and enjoy the stunning scenery and the wonderful hotels (that was the best thing about our holiday - Inntravel). We gave Inntravel the challenge getting us from London to Switzerland and back via train and as usual you didn't let us down - connections and tickets were spot on (Big Smiley Face from a happy customer). Mr McCombe, Greater London, 27/07/2011
We had a really excellent holiday, would definitely travel with Inntravel again and recommend you friends. The good quality hotels, excellent food and attention of small details made for a very relaxing and invigorating holiday. Dr I Batterham, Bath, 23/09/2009
