Summary Itinerary

Days 1-2
Collioure: Once the summer residence of the Kings of Mallorca, this pastel village and port at the foot of the Pyrenees inspired the Fauvist works of Matisse and Picasso. Walk the dramatic coastline trails through coves and vineyards and breathe in the lavender-infused sea air. Head to a village bistro for some rustic fare washed down with local wine.

Day 3
Banyuls sur Mer: After hiking to medieval Madeloc Tower, walk to an old fishing village renowned for its dessert wines. Saunter through vineyards, relax on the beach or hike further to Chapelle de la Salette to see the sunset over the coast.

Day 4
Portbou: Climb the Pic Joan before crossing the border into Spanish Catalunya. Explore the historic quarter of the town or unwind on the beach. Perhaps even feast on the fresh catch of the day.

Day 5
Llanca: Walk from bay to bay along the Costa Brava to reach this peaceful fishing town. Wander the maze of narrow streets and mingle with locals in the plaza major.

Day 6
Port de la Selva: Enjoy a day of superb hiking along the rugged coast. With views of the ocean in one direction, and the aromatic beauty of vineyards and herb groves in the other, the ascent to the San Salvador peak will seem effortless.

Days 7-8
Cadaques: Trek to the easternmost point on the Spanish mainland, en route to the whitewashed village that inspired Salvador Dali. Located in a natural harbour on the Cap de Creus peninsula, the beaches, galleries and medieval architecture in Cadaques make it a highlight of the Costa Brava. Enjoy a final walk along the picturesque coastline before the trip concludes.
