Detailed itinerary

Option 1: via Milan and Paris

Sample itinerary: Take the 1050 high speed train from Naples to Milan, and connect to the 1610 service to Paris. You'll have to spend a night in the City of Light before taking one of the many morning Eurostar services to St Pancras.

Leg 1: Naples to Milan Centrale

First train departs Naples Centrale at 0555, last train departs at 1750. There are also two sleeper services, departing Naples at 2024 and 2150, arriving in Milan the next day at 0700 and 0920 respectively.

Transfer

A relatively quick train trip from Gare de Lyon to Gare du Nord. Follow the signs for RER ligne D (which will be signposted 'direction Creil' or 'direction Orry La Ville Coye'). It's just 2 stops from Gare de Lyon to Gare de Nord and takes a little over 10 minutes, but we recommend you leave at least 50 minutes for the entire transfer, and don't forget the 30-minute check-in for Eurostar.

Welcome to London. St Pancras International now has lots of lovely shops, restaurants and gastro pubs... and free wifi throughout the station. If you're planning to stay in the capital, there are over 60 hotels within a one mile radius of St Pancras (by the way, the new spectacular St Pancras Midland Grand Hotel - a 5-star Marriott hotel - has now opened!).

From St Pancras, there are mainline rail connections to Derby, Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield, as well as First Capital Connect trains on the cross-London Thameslink route which continues north as far as Bedford or south to Gatwick Airport and Brighton.

Across the street is Kings Cross station, which has rail connections to the north of England and Scotland, and it's a 15-minute walk (in the opposite direction, heading west) to Euston Station for connections to the West Midlands, the West Coast (including Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester) and Glasgow (including the Scotrail sleeper service).

Option 2: via Milan and Paris (sleeper)

Sample itinerary: Take one of the many daily trains form Naples to Milan, ensuring you arrive in good time for the 2335 sleeper service to Paris. Arriving at 0819, there's enough time to get a pastry and a coffee and still make the 1013 Eurostar to London, which pulls into St Pancras at 1128.
