Detailed itinerary

Option 1: via Harwich, Esbjerg, Copenhagen and Stockholm

Sample itinerary: Take the 1518 train from Liverpool Street to Harwich, where you can easily connect to the 1745 overnight ferry to Esbjerg. The 1341 train will have you in Copenhagen in enough time to catch the 1819 service to Stockholm, where you can recuperate from all the travel overnight before taking the 0758 train on to Östersund.
Price: Booking an InterRail pass is recommended.
Leg 1: London Liverpool Street to Harwich International

First train departs London Liverpool Street at 0718 weekdays, and runs hourly between 0918 and 1518, with further services at 1615, 1645, 1918 and 2018. On Saturdays, trains run hourly between 0618 and 2018. There is no service from Liverpool Street on Sundays.
Frequency of service: 12 trains a day weekdays, 15 trains a day on Saturdays.

Leg 2: Ferry from Harwich to Esbjerg

Ferries depart Harwich Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 1745, arriving in Esbjerg the next day at 1300.
Frequency of service: 3 ferries a week.

Journey time: 18 hours 15 minutes
Transfer Esbjerg ferry port is a twenty minute walk from the city's main railway station. Alternatively, bus number 5 departs from just outside the ferry terminal building every twenty minutes, or you can take a taxi.

Leg 3: Esbjerg to Copenhagen

First train departs Esbjerg week days at 0557, every day at 0741 and then every two hours until 2141. From December 18th to June 18th and August 20th to December 10th there is also a train at 1732 on Fridays.
