Greentraveller's Top Tip: If you’ve time to spare before your train connection and yearn for a city stroll, Norwich is easy to explore on foot. Wander to the 900 year old Norwich Cathedral and through the city’s market, one of the best in UK and possibly the largest permanent outdoor market in Europe. To enjoy local organic eats amongst fantastic eco-initiatives, we highly recommend lunch at The Greenhouse, an environmentally-conscious shop and cafe.

Overview of Swimming Holiday in the Norfolk Broads

We meet at our accommodation at the Goat Inn, with it’s picturesque surroundings only a short walk from the Bure river. Here you will meet your fellow SwimTrekkers over a welcome drink followed by a pre-trip briefing, explaining the plans for the trip in more detail. It is a great way to see this area of outstanding beauty as we explore the upper part of the river which has no motor boats, allowing you to blend in and soak up the sights, sounds and scenery of this natural aquatic environment.

Our first swim starts near Aylsham where we Swim to the old Burgh Mill. After exploring the fields and surroundings of Morsham with lunch at the Plough Inn we will continue our journey down the river swimming past idyllic countryside, finishing the day at our camp grounds. In contrast to the meanders of the previous day, we start with a straight swim to Little Hautbois, passing through Buxton. After a hearty picnic lunch we crack on and swim to Coltishall, swimming along a stretch of river renowned for its wildlife. The tour finishes with a hot drink in the open grounds of the historical Horsted Mill and if you have time we recommend the scenic ride back to Aylsham via the Bure Valley Steam Railway!
