Ski touring in the mountains of Dalarna, Sweden

The rolling mountains of Dalarna in north-west Sweden offer some of the best opportunities for ski touring in the country. Ski Touring in the Mountains of Western Sweden is an 8-day guided ski touring experience led by local guide taking you deep into the wilds on both sides of the Swedish/Norwegian border.

From your base at an award-winning mountain station, you will first take time to get accustomed to your equipment and prepare yourself for the coming tour with a day excursion in the local area, before setting out for a 4-day cabin-cabin tour. En route you will be staying at mountain stations and mountain cabins. All offer simple but comfortable and cosy overnight accommodation, while the mountain stations also have additional facilities, including the chance to take a sauna to soothe those tired muscles!

Returning to the mountain station from which you began your tour, you have a day to relax before your departure. You may wish to try one of the station's spa treatments or meditation/yoga classes, go ice fishing on a frozen lake or, if you are still feeling active, explore some of the cross country ski trails beginning right from the door.

The tour is ideal for those who have done some cross country skiing/ski touring before and have previous experience of touring in the mountains. You should be in good general health and be comfortable with carrying a pack of 10-12kg for periods of 6-7 hours per day.
