Saddle Skedaddle
Great name, isn't it. Skedaddle are based in Newcastle and organise cycling holidays, mountain bike holidays and classic road cycling holidays. All of Skedaddle's cycling holidays featured on greentraveller are reachable by train - from a Beginner's cycling weekend in Shropshire and a Mountain biking weekend in the Lake District to Cycling Sardinia's Costa Verde and Mountain biking across Andalucia.
By the way, Skedaddle also run 'fair trade' trips in developing countries (in collaboration with fairtrade charity Traidcraft) where you combine a tour of the region (staying in locally run hotels) with meeting the 'people behind the products'. If you're off to work on a long term placement in any of these countries it's an excellent way to see more of the country. For more info, see: Traidcraft Meet the People Tours.
A word from Andrew Straw of Saddle Skedaddle:
"We founded Skedaddle because cycling is the best way to travel and explore, wherever you are travelling, home or abroad. Cycling with Skedaddle takes you into beautiful countryside, enables you to experience the local culture and contribute to the local economy in a positive and responsible way. There is no doubt, after a good day’s ride, as you enjoy the local food and hospitality, nothing beats the sense of achievement you feel. It’s a great form of exercise and it’s environmentally friendly. The sense of well being is infectious, (we’re all addicted!) and it’s why so many of you keep coming back year after year!
"Our small team of people based in the aptly named Byker, are fun, friendly and professional - which is what we are all about. Whichever of us picks up the phone or answers your email, right through to the guides out on the trails we’ll make sure you have the best time – after all you are on holiday!"
