Hotel Posada del valle is a small quiet country hotel with a cosy friendly atmosphere. It is a perfect place to relax, surrounded by its own 18 acre organic farm, and in privileged surroundings, close to the Picos de Europa and other Asturian mountains as well as the beaches of eastern Asturias.
There is excellent walking in the region, maps and self guided walking notes are available from the hotel. Other activities include; wild flowers, bird watching, swimming, canoeing, gourmet food, Pre Romanesque churches.
In the hotel restaurant we serve an imaginative home cooking with an emphasis on the use of local, home and organic products. A vegetarian option is always available.
In the hotel we operate a no-smoking policy, and guests who smoke are asked to smoke outside the hotel. In February 2008 we achieved the award Organic Food and Biodiversity for the hotel or restaurant which best uses organic food in their gastronomic offer. This was awarded by the Spanish Ministry for the Environment in association with the Biodiversity Foundation. Winning this national award has been particularly satisfying as it symbolises our beliefs - and recognises our work - in organic farming and biodiversity.
Review by Richard Hammond.
"Much of the north of Spain is known historically as Green Spain, which has more to do with a wetter climate than a commitment to saving the planet. But if you look carefully, there are some genuine green gems between the Cantabrian and Basque mountains."
