Option 1: via Plymouth

Sample itinerary: Leave Santander on the 1500 ferry and arrive in Plymouth the next day at 0930. There is a train from Plymouth station at 1044, arriving in London Paddington at 1344.

Leg 1: Santander to Plymouth by ferry (overnight)

Every Thursday, departing 1900 in February, March and November, and 1500 from April to October.
May not run weekly in February and November, check times on the website www.brittanyferries.co.uk.

Sample itinerary: Leave Santander on the 1600 ferry, arriving next day at 1700. There is a train from Portsmouth & Southsea station at 1820, arriving in London Victoria at 1959.

Leg 1: Santander to Portsmouth by ferry (overnight)

Ferries leave at 1515 or 1600 on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, arriving next day at 1700. No service December - February, reduced service March and November.

Transfer Between May and September there is a shuttle bus between the harbour and the station. (There is also a shuttle bus to the station called Portsmouth The Hard Interchange, where some trains stop). Otherwise a taxi costs around £5.

Trains depart at 1750, arriving 1929, and 1820 arriving 1959, then regularly through the evening. The last direct train is 2224, arriving 0030. There are also some trains to London Victoria.
