Summary itinerary

Days 1-2
Berlin: Shake off the cobwebs in one of the most happening cities in the world, home to vibrant nightlife, festivals galore and an up-to-the-minute arts scene. For a historic perspective, inspect Checkpoint Charlie or fragments of the dismantled Berlin Wall.

Days 3-4
Krakow: Explore Wawel Castle, a superb testament to the city's royal past and hang out with locals in Rynek Glowny, one of the world's largest medieval squares. For a sombre interlude, perhaps take a day trip to Auschwitz for insight into the tragedies of WWII.

Days 5-6

Day 7

Days 8-9

Budapest: Since the Iron Curtain was lifted, Budapest has experienced a kind of renaissance. Hire a bike and explore the grand boulevards or cross the Chain Bridge for spectacular views along the Danube riverbanks.

Days 12-13
Bled: Flex those muscles in this lakeside town - raft on a nearby river, canoe on Lake Bled or cycle to the scenic Vintgar Gorge.

Days 14-15
Venice: Be romanced by the Bridge of Sighs, the Basilica di San Marco and the beautiful piazzas and palaces in this city of hidden treasures. Conclude the adventure with a strong shot of Italian coffee.
