City Breaks in Paris
Paris needs little introduction - the City of Light, the most romantic city in the world, it is the world's most popular tourist destination and one of the planet's most beautiful cities. From the tree lined banks of the Seine to the elegant Haussmann boulevards, the cobbled streets of Montmartre and the Marais and instantly recognisable landmarks such as the Louvre, Eiffel Tower and Notre Darme, Paris is visually striking, but the French capital's appeal is far more than just aesthetic.
Thanks to the Parisian savoir vivre, fine restaurants, cafés and brasseries abound; shopping here is an art form in elegant boutiques, bustling flea markets and carefully designed concept stores. The city is home to some of the world's premier museums and galleries, including the Musée d'Orsay and Centre Pompidou in addition to the Louvre, as well as opera, performing arts and countless other sights and cultural draws.
The Paris tourist board (which has a dedicated sustainable tourism page) has a wealth of further information, and below are some great city breaks in Paris, all of which are within easy reach by train.
