Not only will this 7 day rail holiday give you the chance travel to and from Lake Garda in first class, as well as having ample time to explore the Lake itself, you'll also have the opportunity to visit Venice, Milan and the Dolomites. Lake Garda boasts a landscape of contrasts, from towering cliffs to quaint harbours and palm tree-lined streets, from magnificent castles to lemon orchards and olive groves. Brief itinerary
Day 1:
Head to London St Pancras for your Eurostar service to Paris, while enjoying a complimentary meal and drinks in Standard Premier Class. Transfer to Gare de Lyon to catch a TGV service through Switzerland to Zurich, where you'll spend the night.
Day 2:
Explore Zurich in the morning before making your way back to the station to join the Eurostar service to Desenzano on the south-western shores of Lake Garda, ready for a 4 night stay, just 300m from the banks of the lake.
Day 3:
What better way to explore the Lake than on a relaxing cruise? You have the choice as to where you'd like to go on your criuse, be it Limone, Riva del Garda or Malcesine in the north or Torri del Benaco, Lazise or Sirmione in the south and east.
Day 4:
Climb aboard the efficient Italian rail network and head off to Venice for the day, where you can walk the banks of the Grand Canal, indulge in a gondola ride or explore some of Venice’s many highlights, including St. Mark’s Square, the Basilica of St. Mark’s and the Bridge of Sighs.
Day 5:
Another free day to explore as you will, opting toetither spend your time relaxing around the Lake Garda and the town of Desenzano, or head further afield to visit Verona, Milan or the Dolomites.
Day 6:
Today, travel on the comfortable Euro City service as it snakes its way past Milan, heading into the Alps for the spectacular journey up the Rhône Valley and through the Simplon Pass. Change in Visp and continue to Montreux, where you'll spend the night.
Day 7:
You getto explore Montreux in the morning, before heading to the station, continuing to Lausanne and boarding the TGV service that'll bring you back to Paris. A quick change in Paris and you're back on the Eurostar, on your way back to London.
