The Boghill Eco Tours have been created to give you a full and wide-ranging experience of the beautiful landscape of the Burren and a taste of the culture and rich heritage of the area. Using our wisdom and knowledge of this complex and intriguing region we offer an adventure for visitors seeking something that goes beyond the usual commercial offerings of the traditional tourist-industry. As well as visits to the stunning attractions that Clare has to offer, our knowledgeable guides will take you on an unforgettable journey to the less travelled places, the wide open spaces and the untamed nature at its best, where you can explore your passions and nurture your spirit.
The Boghill Centre has teamed up with a local walking company – Heart of the Burren Walks to create a week of walking in the enchanting Burren landscape of County Clare, Ireland. You will enjoy a warm Irish welcome, wholesome home cooking and a wonderful opportunity to tramp the rich diverse contours of the Clare countryside.
Get away from it all at the secluded, tranquil setting of The Boghill Centre and treat yourself to a 5 day Burren Walking break with Tony Kirby the celebrated founder and guide of Heart of Burren Walks. The week includes inland and coastal guided Burren walking trips (3-4 hours per day), exploring local heritage, traditional Irish music and dance and delicious organic vegetarian food. There will also be optional ceramics, yoga and healing therapies, and of course plenty of time to relax.
Heart of Burren Walks encourages visitors to explore the Burren at a slow pace and to take nothing from the landscape except precious memories. Tony Kirby is an excellent guide and marvellous raconteur on all things of the Burren.
The Burren with its unusual geological features, its well preserved archaeology, its unique flora and fauna and its local culture, is an ideal area to explore intimately in a small tour group. The nature of the area – unspoilt countryside, unusual natural features, numerous heritage sites, small roads , working farms – make it a haven for visitors who want to get off the beaten track and discover real Ireland. The Boghill Centre and Heart of Burren Walks are key members of the Burren Ecotourism Network and we aim to encourage visitors to the area and preserve the Burren as an unspoilt nature reserve.
