Central Pyrenees Snowshoe Week, France

Staying in the heart of the Pyrenees, in the French spa town of Luchon, we have an excellent base from which to discover some of Europe's most stunning scenery on a range of fantastic day snowshoe walks at up to 2000m. We start out on easier hikes and as the holiday progresses we gradually try more challenging routes, though the week's walks are flexible. Options include circuits via the Antenac Ridge, the Pic d'Arres Horseshoe, the Benque Circuit and the hike from the Col de Peyrasourde to the Pic du Lion and each walk is led by a local guide. You'll also enjoy a free day to relax and enjoy the mountain scenery and views, as well as the pretty town of Luchon itself.

On the holiday you can expect to cover a variety of routes and terrain from easy snow-covered forest trails to the steeper slopes of the mountains; however the itinerary is flexible and your guides will use their expert knowledge and judgement to determine which routes are best for both snow conditions and the group's abilities. You should note that in some snow conditions snowshoeing can be quite energetic and you should have a good general level of cardiovascular fitness before you come on this trip - but it is suitable for both novices and those with some previous snowshoeing experience.
