Castles and Gardens Scenic Walking Tour

This lovely circular walking holiday begins and ends in the quaint High Weald village of Wadhurst. The path leads over gentle hills, through woods and past tranquil lakes to moated castles in romantic gardens and stately parkland. It winds through pine forests, open countryside and apple orchards and passes through picturesque medieval Wealden villages with their unique architecture of wood and brick tiles, oast houses and lovely churches. Each day you can stop to visit a castle, house, park or garden - some of the best loved in Southern England.

The trail is almost entirely on footpaths and quiet country lanes. The walk is carefully designed so that you can walk to all the places of interest, your accommodation and places to eat. Stay along the way in old English homes or atmospheric inns, all carefully selected for the quality and comfort of their accommodation. Walk at a relaxed carefree pace while your baggage is transported for you.

The average distance walked per day is 20 km / 12 miles; or if you prefer there is slower version with 13.5 km / 8.5 miles walking per day. It is also possible to do just part of the tour.
