Canoeing Holiday in Estonia
A wonderful off-the-beaten-track 3-day holiday in Estonia, including guided 'bogshoeing', canoeing in Soomaa National Park and guided sea-kayaking around the West-Estonian Archipelago.
£260
Estonia is a true Baltic gem, offering visitors a wealth of attractions and activities ranging from the medieval old town at the centre of Tallinn to the countless beaches that stretch languidly across the glorious coastline. The country is also proudly preoccupied with nature, with five National Parks, offering plenty of chance to hike and bike.
Estonia also boasts over 1,500 islands, many of which offer a far more rustic and removed feel than you'll find on the beaches. This fantastic 3-day canoeing holiday will also let you explore the beauty of the Sooma National Park, where you'll be able to try your hand at 'bogshoeing'. With two full days of canoeing and sea-kayaking, you'll also gt to learn all about the natural and cultural heritage of the islets you explore.
Brief itinerary:
Day 1:
We pick you up in Pärnu and drive to Soomaa. You will be provided a pair of bog-shoes and led by a local guide to the “walk on the water”. Bogshoes have been used by our ancestors for exactly the same purpose as they are today.
Local lunch at the farmhouse. After lunch, a canoe trip downriver takes us trough the floodplain meadow rich in wild flowers. At the end of the day, our hosts will invite you to enjoy the sauna.
Meals: lunch and supper
Accommodation: Guesthouse
Day 2:
After breakfast drive to the West-coast. Meeting with our sea-kayaking guides, and taking a ferry to the island of Hiiumaa.
Our sea-kayaking adventure takes us to four different islets. Stops will be made in order to hike around and learn about nature and cultural heritage of the islets. We will camp overnight in tents, where you'll be provided with telescopes to view a seal habitat. A campfire under the open sky will cap the day.
Meals: breakfast, lunch and supper

Day 3:
After breakfast we head back towards Hiiumaa, paddling among the seals, who are really curious animals, and sometimes follow kayaks. We do some stops on islets, lunch at Saarnaki islet, which is said to be the most beautiful island of all. After a walk along the islet’s hiking trail, enjoying the landscape that includes a fishing farm and a restored windmill, you can decide for yourselves.
