Green places to stay
Top 5 Green Hen Parties
Getting on a cramped flight for a weekend rushing around a city has become the slightly tedious norm of hen dos. To give you a little inspiration for something different, we've come up with our top five green hen parties.

1. Be Babes in the Woods
Treat your hen to a weekend of woodlounging and bushcraft in a secluded woodland glade in Devon. Babes in the Woods has been set up specifically for hen parties. The accommodation is in very comfortable teepees complete with camp beds, lanterns, bedside tables and flower arrangements. Activities include building survival shelters, making fire without a match, foraging for plants to concoct a hedgerow massage oil, whittling wooden spoons but best of all sitting around the campfire with your girlfriends. There are a variety of packages available depending on how much pampering and champagne you and the hen require.
A weekend costs from £195 per person, fully inclusive apart from transport to and from Devon. For more information see Babes in the Woods. For alternative posh camping ideas see our Luxury Campsites

2. Catch the sleeper train to Cornwall
Recreate the sleepovers of your youth by jumping on the sleeper train from London to Penzance. The Night Riveria leaves Paddington at 11pm and arrives in Penzance at 8am the next day, so you can start your hen party with drinks in London and arrive in Cornwall in time for fun and games on Saturday. Once in Cornwall why not stay in your very own holiday cottage so you can tailor-make your weekend. See green holiday cottages in Cornwall for options to suit all budgets and group sizes. For more info on activities in Cornwall see Visit Cornwall.
The sleeper train to Cornwall costs from £45 per person for a twin berth room. Holiday cottages listed on greentraveller cost from £450 per week, sleeping up to 6 people. For more ideas see Green Holidays in Cornwall
3. Hop over to Honfluer, France for a gourmet break
Explore the pretty town of Honfleur. Photo: InntravelFor the more civilised hen do head across The Channel by ferry for a weekend of fine dining in the pretty harbour-side town of Honfluer. Inntravel organises a weekend break to Honfluer including your ferry journey, hotel and one evening meal, making it blissfully simple to book up. On this mini break you stay in the 3-star Hotel du Cheval Blanc, which is located by the harbour, and on your first night delight in a six-course dinner of refined cuisine at Entre Terre et Mer.
This holidays costs from £274 pp for 2 nights, including one dinner, accommodation and the ferry from Dover to Calais. For more info see Special Break to Honfluer
4. Go on an overland mini break to Amsterdam
It is incredibly easy, and fun, to reach the canal-side bars of Amsterdam by train or ferry from the UK. The train from St Pancras to Amsterdam takes under 5 hours via Brussels and by ferry it is best to take the Stena Line rail and sail to Amsterdam option, which means you get to spend a night at sea! Whilst in Amsterdam jump on a cycling tour of the city, for a day soaking up some culture in the sunshine before an evening of bars and parties. If you would rather someone else sorted all travel and accommodation then see our Brussels and Amsterdam by train holiday.
The train from London to Amsterdam costs from £116 return. Rail and sail with Stena Line costs from £57 one way overnight. For more info click on the above links.
