We're delighted that our Green Travel List was published in the Guardian newspaper. The list features 25 of the most innovative green tourism projects around the world.
What these eco-minded holidays have in common is that their green innovations and adaptations make for a more enjoyable visitor experience. It’s far nicer to swim in a natural, freshwater pool cleaned by filtration plants than by synthesised chemicals, far cosier to be warmed by the cosy glow of a wood-chip boiler than gas central heating, and far more satisfying to eat fish for dinner fresh from local shores rather than something shipped in from across the world.
The 25 inspiring initiatives cover a diverse range of companies, from places to stay to transport schemes, festivals, adventure trips and conservation holidays. All are pushing the boundaries of what green travel means, and repackaging their sustainable credentials for a new generation of more savvy – and green-minded – travellers.

Snowshoeing and snowtrekking

Northern lights & dog-sledging

Cross-country skiing

|
Snow trekking on a pair of snow-shoes is one of the greenest activities in winter. Even better, there’s none of the fuss of having to bother with the usual ski equipment. Just strap on a pair of snow-shoes and away you go into the crunching virgin snow. Check out our snowtrekking holidays throughout Europe.
|
Experience winter in the Arctic and the thrill of chasing the ‘Tricky Lady’, as the Northern Lights are known. We have taior made holidays available for those wanting a true winter adventure including camping under the Artic stars, dog-sledging and learning local customs.
|
Cross-country skiing is not for the faint of heart – there’s no other work-out quite like it, as you push and glide (and huff and puff) across miles of flat tracks in the fresh winter air. We have cross-country skiing holidays throughout Europe, whether you want to set off alone or be part of a group.
