Introducing: Holly Gee
Posted by Richard Hammond at 02:36 on Thursday 08 July 2010
We're delighted to announce that Holly Gee, who has recently returned from an epic 20 months of travelling around the world without flying, has joined greentraveller as one of our expert contributors.
Holly's green travel career kicked off in 2005 when she bought a giant map and started planning a circumnavigation of the world without flying. After three years of intense saving, she pedalled out of London to hop on tandems, sailing boats, cargo ships and jeeps around the Northern Hemisphere.
52,000 miles, 473 vehicles and 20 months later, Holly has completed her round-the-world no-fly challenge. Now she hopes to spread the joy of slow travel here in the UK.
Holly says: "No holiday is complete unless the journey is as fun as the destination and even better if it involves bikes, boats and getting back to nature."
Whilst travelling the world Holly kept up a blog, www.3mphroundtheworld.com, alongside writing for several publications including Real Travel, The Guardian and Geographical Magazine.
