Walking in HerefordshireThe ninth annual Herefordshire Walking Festival is scheduled to take place between Saturday, 19 June and Sunday, 27 June.

As in previous years, the 2010 programme of walks will offer walkers of all levels the chance to don their boots and to discover the nooks and crannies of Herefordshire¹s rich, rural landscape through a choice of more than 60 guided walks. This year's featured walk is "In the Steps of the Mortimers" a three-day  walk, covering 30 miles in the north of the county.

Or go further south and take on the  "The Ross Round" where you can hike part or all of the 18-miles circuit around Ross-on-Wye, which take on steeper climbs to superb viewing points. The Festival programme has been carefully put together to provide something for everyone.  Learn from experts on archaeology, ornithology, nature, food, drink and discover historic landscapes and market towns.  This year, there
will also be an opportunity to join licensed bat volunteer, James Bisset to experience the fascinating world of these "Angels of the Night".

The more adventurous may also enjoy a "Llamas and Ice Cream" experience, whilst budding photographers have the chance to improve their skills under the guidance of travel photographer Nick Meers on one of the "Twilight
Ambles at Croft Castle".

A total of 2,000 places are available throughout the Festival and places book up quickly especially on popular walks.
