The UK’s ‘Green Spaces’ are worth billons of pounds a year in health and welfare, according to a major new independent report, the UK National Ecosystem Assessment (NEA).
Within the next few weeks, the government is expected to issue a white paper on the natural environment, which is likely to include measures to protect areas of beauty and scientific interest, as well as proposals on green spaces.
The idea behind our travel guides is that we do the hard work for you, selecting the best hotels, restaurants and activities. We have also included information on how to travel to - and around - the New Forest by public transport. Every day, over 100 trains service the New Forest's gateway town of Brockenhurst (1hr 40mins from London Waterloo) and Cross Country services connect with Reading, Oxford, Coventry and Birmingham as well as many other cities further north.
I hope you find it a useful resource for planning a green getaway to one of best managed green spaces in the UK.
Best wishes,
Richard Hammond
