Yurt camps and other luxury campsites have been springing up all over the country. They’re waterproof, big enough to house a four-poster bed as well as a wood stove to keep you snug under a sheepskin cover. It's all a far cry from roll mats, sleeping bags and dripping fly sheets! New on greentraveller this month is an exclusive range of luxury campsites, and other beautiful, quirky places to stay in some of the loveliest corners of the country, including luxurious eye-catching geodomes in the ancient Forest of Dean, a gypsy caravan in Cornwall, a handcrafted wagon in Wiltshire, a beautiful wooden lakeside lodge in the Lake District and a yurt camp in the Cairngorms, Scotland. We also feature a range of luxury campsites in Europe. One of my personal favourites is in Andalucia. It’s one thing to plonk a yurt at the bottom of a field and call it luxury camping, but it’s quite another to buy a private meadow in the south of Spain, import yurts from Mongolia and Afghanistan, drill a well, install an outdoor swimming pool, and provide guests with three-course candlelit dinners with produce from your own garden. Then run it all off-grid. Do take a look at the Hoopoe Yurt Hotel and other Luxury Campsites in Europe. Happy Glamping!
