Greentraveller's Facebook Page: Destination of the Month: Sweden

Sweden is one of the largest countries in Europe and is an increasingly popular destination for Brits thanks to its lush green countryside, sprawling forests, high alpine peaks, gorgeous beaches and coastline. We have already written about its first marine park - the Koster Islands and taking a city break in Gothenburg, whizzing around on the city's bike hire scheme Control & SetThere's also the culturally vibrant city of Stockholm (with excellent cafes, exhibitions and jazz and blues bars in the Old Town and in Gamla Stan, which merges the old and new with cobblestone streets, medieval alleyways and unique shops), and in the winter there's a range of fantastic outdoor activity holidays, such as husky-sledging, skiing, snowboarding or ski-touring in the country's blissful winter wonderland.

We asked our Facebook Fans (via greentraveller's Facebook page) what they think about Sweden as our 'Destination of the Month'. Thank to everyone who wrote in with their tip tips, here's a selection of their replies:

Sweden is fantastic! I love the archipelago in Stockholm... A few musts: the kräftor fest (crayfish party) if you're there in August; Trädgården below the Skanstull bridge (Södermalm, Stockholm) for coffee, drinks and music; and Trosa: a small, idyllic and fairytale-like town just an hour south from Stockholm. In Swedish they call it "Världens Ände" (the world's end).

"I just got back from Gothenburg and surrounding area and loved it. I would recommend: walking around the old cobblestone streets of the Haga area (and having a delicious cinnamon bun) and visiting the magical islands north of Gothenburg (I stayed the night at the wonderful Salt & Sill hotel on Kladesholmen island)".
