The train service from London St Pancras International or Ashford International will travel direct to Lyon, Avignon and Aix-en-Provence and so represents an extension of its direct service to Avignon that runs in the summer (6 July to 7 September).

The new weekly service will run as part of a trial period from 4 May to the 29 June 2013 and tickets will go on sale on the 11 December 2012 (when tickets for Eurostar’s existing weekly summer services to Avignon will also go on sale).

On the return leg, passengers will be required to disembark in Lille Europe to complete the necessary security and passport checks required for transit through the Channel Tunnel before re-boarding a dedicated Eurostar service to the UK.

Return fares for 2013 Lyon and Provence services cost from £99 for Lyon and £109 for Avignon and Aix-en-Provence in Standard class and £199 and £249 in Standard Premier.

Eurostar’s direct summer Avignon services cost from £109 return in Standard class and £249 return in Standard Premier.
