Bite-size Break Venice

Day 1 Venice

Welcome to the labyrinthine streets of Venice, Italy, filled with history, architectural wonders and exquisite aromas that drift along streets. Begin this culinary adventure by exploring Venice city’s famed Bacari wine bars and nibbling on their exquisite cicchetti dishes (Venice’s answer to tapas). Wind through ancient streets by foot and gondola, and step through into history at each bar discovered.

Day 2 Marca Trevigiana/Venice

Head out into the agriturismo-rich area of Marca Trevigiana, a region famous for its sparkling Prosecco wines and divine local produce. Savour Monte Cesen’s delicious mountain cheeses on a visit to a local cheesemaker before complementing these flavours with a visit to a salami ‘factory’, a family-owned business that’s been making meat goods for over 50 years. Then it’s time for the day to really shine at a local winery, where the area’s famous sparkling wine, Prosecco, is just begging to be tasted in the shadow of its wine groves. Stop in Treviso and taste some award-winning gelato – we might even be treated to a demonstration from the Italian champion himself! Top off the day with an optional feast of Venetian specialties in a regional restaurant before catching the train back to Venice.

Day 3 Venice

Greet the sun in Venice’s unusually quiet morning streets, and meet a local producer who reveals the 1,000-year-old tradition of how fresh produce makes its way to the island’s shores. Then follow your nose to the fish market to see its large variety of seafood before exploring the markets and eating breakfast among the hustle and bustle of the traders. Then it’s time to don aprons and get hands dirty in a cooking class. Learn the secrets behind making traditional Italian dishes then tuck into a delicious lunch of the morning’s creations. In the afternoon, embark on a walking tour of Venice city where small food shops and the island’s most iconic sights, like the Bridge of Sighs and St Mark’s, are discovered. Rest weary feet before spending a tough hour at an optional wine tasting with a sommelier who specialises in local wines. Enjoy dinner at a charming Venetian restaurant and celebrate the end of an enticing few days in this captivating Italian city. Return to the hotel through winding, lamp-lit streets.

Day 4 Venice

After a lazy breakfast at the hotel, this Italian culinary adventure comes to an end. But there are still amazing things to discover in Italy’s ‘Queen of the Adriatic’. Perhaps take a boat ride around the lagoon, sail to the charming island of Lido to laze on its beaches or wander through Venice’s winding streets in search of cosy cafes, architectural wonders or Venetian carnival masks.
