Biking in the Southern Alps
An exhilarating mountain biking experience through a remote and little known corner of the Alps. From one gite to the next, we enjoy steady climbs along forest paths reaching altitudes often above 2500m and exciting technical singletrack descents.
Overview of Biking in the Southern Alps
The Queyras, located in the southern part of the French Alps, offers an extraordinary terrain for bike enthusiasts. There are lots of trails that go high into the mountains, from where you will have stunning and amazing views. It's a one week trip that will take you to the hidden and little known corners of the Alps and where you will have the chance to enjoy different types of terrain on your way to Ceillac.
One of the greatest parts of the route is the incredible descent of nearly 2km from Saint Veran to Ville-Vielle.
Itinerary:
- Day 1: Trip begins at Arvieux
- Day 2: Cycle from Arvieux to the Col de Furfande, enjoying and amazing descent from there
- Day 3: Road climb of the Col d'Izoard followed by a descent to Aiguille
- Day 4: Ascend to Saint Veeran to enjoy stunning views from the Italian mountain Monte Viso
- Day 5: Free day to enjoy spare time to relax in Saint Veran and other activities
- Day 6: Climb to the Observatory of Chateau Renard
- Day 7: Cycle up to the Sommet du Bucher from where we'll have the chance to enjoy the gorgeous views of the Ecrins National Park. We'll continue afterwards to Ceillac
- Day 8: Trip ends at Ceillac
