Why is this a greener holiday?
First, to truly minimise the environmental impact, guests are encouraged to arrive by public transport: the nearest train station is Machynlleth, and then it’s only a 10 minute taxi ride to the property. Onsite the owners have implemented a number of green initiatives. They have solar hot water, which also contributes to underfloor heating. The building is fully insulated and the windows are doubled glazed. Local slate and timber was used in the construction and eco paints are used throughout. The walls are lime, rather than cement, making them breathable. Low energy light bulbs have been used throughout.
