Westview is a triumph of design in the way that a building of contemporary style and modern comforts sits so comfortably in stunning rural surroundings. The spacious bedrooms comprise of one twin and three doubles which all have en-suites whilst the twin has its own private bathroom.

Bedroom one is a real treat with double doors that open out onto a rear balcony, a dressing room, a large double bed and sofa as well as an en-suite that boasts a double bath and large and impressive power shower. Bedrooms two and four are large, spacious rooms with a double bed and an en-suite. Bedroom three is a twin room with its own private bathroom with a bath and shower over the bath.

The dining room and residents lounge are located on the first floor to take full advantage of the superb views of the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains. The whole house benefits from underfloor heating and there is also Wi-Fi throughout.

Breakfast is a sumptuous affair, either the full Welsh breakfast or the daily special –both made with tasty locally sourced ingredients.

Westview is set in half an acre of its own grounds with plenty of off-road parking, a large lawn to the rear and a front lawn with peerless view of the hills. Set in the quiet village of Llowes, the bustling market town of Hay-on-Wye, renowned for its second-hand book shops and literary festival is nearby and this is an ideal place to explore all that the Brecon Beacons National Park has to offer.

Westview Guesthouse is located on the Wye Valley Walk long distance path and is walkers and cyclist welcome accredited. We are also members of the Green Tourism Business Scheme and registered with Visit Wales.

Why is this a greener holiday?

To truly minimise the environmental impact, guests are encouraged to arrive by public transport: the nearest train station is Hereford. From the Hereford bus station, take Bus 39 to Glasbury Bridge. Then either walk the 2 miles to Llowes, cross over the road and wait for the bus 39 to Llowes or the owners are happy to collect guests from Glasbury by prior arrangement.

Onsite the owners have taken a number of green measures to reduce the environmental impact of their tourism business, earning them Gold from the GTBS. A high efficiency heat exchange unit has been installed which recovers up to 95% of heat from extracted air to transfer it to incoming fresh filtered air. The building is highly insulated and there is efficient underfloor heating with individual room controls. All energy use is monitored. Water butts have been fitted and all dual flush toilets. The owners reduce, reuse and recycle waste as much as possible. They serve locally sourced delicious food with homemade jams and marmalade, as well as home baked cakes and bread.
