How does West Hollowcombe minimise its impact on the environment and contribute to a sense of place?
West Hollowcombe's eco credentials include solar panels providing the hot water, a wind turbine and micro-bore electric generation via the privately owned, spring-fed streams and river. In addition, all of the water is supplied by their very own bore hole and all cleaning products are both locally sourced and eco friendly. Waste management is actively encouraged and monitored, with recycling of glass, tin, plastic and paper/cardboard.
West Hollowcombe can be found within Exmoor National Park, which is spread over both Somerset and Devon. The Park also has several Sites of Special Scientific Interest, as well as around 34 miles of coastline, making it a perfect destination for both walkers and cyclists. The Park's woodlands are unique in that they can sometimes reach right the way down to the shoreline, particularly between Porlock and The Foreland, where they form the longest stretch of coastal woodland in England and Wales.
