A bit more about Feather Down Farm's Warren Farm
Warren Farm sits in the heart of the Mendips, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty whose skies are very big and very open. Its 1,000 acres stretch along Cheddar Gorge, making it the perfect location for outdoorsy types. Your tent is literally on top of the highest inland cliffs on our island, meaning the views around you are sweeping and stunning, and the walks vigorous and varied. We farm a flock of over a thousand ewes that lamb in May, and over 80 suckler cows, which calve in April and May.
Your route to Warren will probably take you through the Georgian masterpiece that is Bath, just over 20 miles away. But if being active is more your thing, then you can choose between the attractions of caves at Wookey Hole, biking both on and off road, or a touch of fly fishing at the nearby lake of Blagdon.
An absolute must-do is the energetic 45-minute walk down the valley to Cheddar, home to the village’s last cheese producer, The Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company. Whatever it is you’d like to do, we’ll be delighted to help you make the most of your stay on our ideally-located farm.

Why is this a greener holiday?
To truly minimise the environmental impact, guests are encouraged to arrive by public transport: the nearest train station is Bristol Temple Meads and from there, you'll need to take the FIRST Bus 126 (Sundays 826) to Cheddar. Onsite the accommodation is very low impact, as the tents are effectively off-grid. There is no electricity and lighting is by candle. Heating and cooking is done on a wood-burning stove. The hot tubs are also wood burning. Much of the produce in the honesty shops is local sourced, either from the farm or other nearby suppliers. To avoid use of additional transport for the duration of their holiday, there is a wide range of low impact family activities on-site and in the surrounding area, including opportunities for walking, hiking and wildlife viewing.
